Understand this market

This market asks a simple ranking question: among all large private companies (ones not listed on a stock exchange), which one will be ranked third by total valuation on June 30, 2026? The top two spots are currently held by other companies — this is specifically about who lands in third place. A Yes for OpenAI means OpenAI holds that third spot; a Yes for Anthropic or SpaceX means one of them climbed (or stayed) into third instead.

Resolution Criteria

This market will resolve to the listed company with the third largest private market valuation on June 30, 2026. NPM Prices are published for trading days only and are updated once daily at 1:00 PM ET on the following calendar day. If NPM has not published relevant data for the specified date by 1:00 PM ET on July 1, 2026, this market may remain open until 11:59 PM ET on July 4, 2026. If no further data is released by that time, the market will resolve according to the data available. If NPM ceases publishing relevant data prior to the specified date, this market will resolve based on the NPM data published prior to the cessation of coverage, as well as applicable public market capitalization data following an IPO or direct listing. If a company completes an IPO or direct listing before the specified date, this market will resolve based on its final NPM valuation published between market creation and the IPO or direct listing date, as this market is based on private market valuations only. If a listed company merges with or acquires another entity and remains the parent company, no change to resolution methodology applies. If a listed company is acquired, merges into another entity and is no longer the surviving parent company, or otherwise ceases to exist as an independent entity prior to the end of the period, only the NPM valuation achieved prior to completion of the transaction will be considered for resolution. No transaction, acquisition, or merger consideration will be considered for resolution. If two or more companies are tied for the third highest valuation, the markets will resolve in favor of the company that achieved that valuation first. If the valuations were achieved on the same day, the market will resolve in favor of the company whose listed name comes first alphabetically. Revisions to previously published NPM data made after their initial release will not be considered, unless made to correct clearly erroneous data. OpenAI is the heaviest-backed outcome to hold the third-largest private company valuation by end of June 2026, according to Polymarket trading, with Anthropic as the only other contender attracting meaningful volume. The market resolves using NPM (New Amsterdam Partners Market) valuation data published for 30 June 2026, with a fallback deadline of 11:59 PM ET on 4 July 2026. Resolution is based strictly on private market valuations; any company completing an IPO before that date is excluded from consideration.

Top odds: 89%$41.9k volume12 outcomes

Market structure

Twelve companies are listed as possible outcomes, but volume is heavily concentrated on just two: OpenAI and Anthropic. The remaining ten outcomes — including Stripe, Neuralink, Anduril, SpaceX, Databricks, Canva, Kraken, Lambda, Epic Games, and Perplexity — collectively attract minimal trading interest. Resolution uses NPM data for 30 June 2026, with a fallback to available data if publication is delayed. If two companies are tied, the one that achieved the valuation first wins; same-day ties are broken alphabetically.

Background

The private technology market has undergone substantial repricing since 2023, driven primarily by surging investor appetite for artificial intelligence infrastructure and applications. OpenAI's series of high-profile funding rounds — culminating in a reported $157 billion valuation following its October 2024 raise — positioned it as one of the most valuable private companies globally, sitting behind only SpaceX and, depending on the data source, ByteDance. Anthropic, the AI safety-focused laboratory backed by Alphabet and Amazon, has also attracted multi-billion dollar commitments that have pushed its implied valuation into the upper tier of private markets. The composition of the top-three private company ranking has been unusually fluid, with AI-focused firms displacing long-established names in fintech and consumer software within a compressed timeframe.

Key factors

Several structural factors could shift the third-place ranking before 30 June 2026. A new funding round at any of the listed companies — particularly one that revises an implied valuation sharply upward or downward — would directly affect NPM pricing. An IPO or direct listing by any listed company before the resolution date would remove it from consideration entirely, as the market resolves solely on private valuations; this is a non-trivial risk given sustained IPO speculation around several names on the list. Broader macroeconomic conditions, including interest rate movements and risk-appetite shifts, influence secondary market pricing on platforms like NPM. Regulatory developments affecting AI companies — particularly around data use, model deployment, or antitrust scrutiny — could affect investor sentiment and implied valuations. The NPM data publication schedule itself introduces a procedural variable: if data for 30 June is delayed, the market remains open until 4 July 2026, during which time no further valuation changes would count.

FAQ

How is the 3rd largest private company market resolved?

The market resolves to whichever listed company holds the third-highest private market valuation in NPM data published for 30 June 2026. Companies that have completed an IPO or direct listing before that date are excluded. Revisions to NPM data made after initial publication are not counted unless they correct clearly erroneous figures.

When does the 3rd largest private company market resolve?

The primary resolution date is 30 June 2026, using NPM data published by 1:00 PM ET on 1 July 2026. If relevant data has not been published by that time, the market may remain open until 11:59 PM ET on 4 July 2026, after which it resolves on whatever data is available.

What happens if a listed company completes an IPO before June 2026?

Any listed company that completes an IPO or direct listing before 30 June 2026 is excluded from resolution. The market would then resolve based on its final NPM valuation published before the IPO date. Its post-listing public market capitalisation is not considered.

What does the market currently show?

Trading is heavily concentrated on two outcomes: OpenAI is the dominant outcome by volume, with Anthropic as the only other contender attracting meaningful interest. The remaining ten listed companies — including Stripe, Neuralink, Anduril, and SpaceX — each carry negligible market weight.
