Resolution Criteria

This market will resolve to "Yes" if Kraken's private market valuation, as measured by the NPM Price reported by Nasdaq Private Market, LLC (NPM) for any date between market creation and December 31, 2026, reaches or exceeds the listed amount. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". NPM Prices are published for trading days only and are updated once daily at 1:00 PM ET on the following calendar day. If NPM has not published relevant data for all business dates in the specified period by 1:00 PM ET on January 1, 2027, this market may remain open until 11:59 PM ET on January 4, 2027. If no further data is released by that time, the market will resolve according to the data available. If NPM ceases publishing relevant data prior to the end of the specified period, this market will resolve based on the NPM data published for the period prior to the cessation of coverage, as well as any applicable public market capitalization data following an IPO or direct listing. If the company completes an IPO or direct listing before the end of the specified period, this market will consider, in addition to the relevant NPM valuations published between market creation and the IPO or direct listing date, the valuation implied by the official IPO or direct listing price, and the company's public market capitalization between the IPO or direct listing date and the end of the specified period. Public market capitalization will be determined using the highest/lowest official regular-hours trading price published for the company's primary listed common equity on its primary exchange for any trading day during the specified period, multiplied by the company's total outstanding common shares at the relevant time. If the listed company merges with or acquires another entity and remains the parent company, no change to resolution methodology applies. If the listed company is acquired, merges into another entity and is no longer the surviving parent company, or otherwise ceases to exist as an independent entity prior to the end of the period, only NPM valuations and applicable public market capitalizations achieved prior to completion of the transaction will be considered for resolution. No transaction, acquisition, or merger consideration will be considered for resolution. The resolution source for this market is NPM data published here (https://fe.secondmarket.com/companies/company-ab5413cb-1c83-497e-b03e-2ed7ca70117d/data?return_url=https://polymarket.com/finance/privates). The resolution source for any period following an IPO, direct listing, or relevant corporate action, will be official exchange trading data and publicly reported share counts. Revisions to previously published NPM data made after their initial release will not be considered, unless made to correct clearly erroneous data.

This market asks whether Kraken's private valuation, as tracked by Nasdaq Private Market, will reach various thresholds by 31 December 2026. Trading is broadly distributed across nine valuation bands, with volume heavily concentrated around the mid-range thresholds. The lower valuation bands attract the strongest backing, while the highest thresholds show markedly thinner support. Resolution is based on NPM Price data, with a fallback deadline of 4 January 2027.

Market structure

Nine outcomes span a wide range of valuation thresholds for Kraken, from below $8 billion to above $25 billion. Volume is broadly distributed but most concentrated in the middle bands, with a clear step-down in backing as thresholds rise. Resolution uses the NPM Price published by Nasdaq Private Market for any trading day up to 31 December 2026. A fallback window extends to 11:59 PM ET on 4 January 2027 if data publication is delayed. An IPO or direct listing triggers supplementary resolution using official exchange data.

Background

Kraken, formally Payward Inc, is one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges by trading volume globally, founded in 2011 and headquartered in the United States. The exchange has operated as a private company through multiple cryptocurrency market cycles and has been the subject of recurring IPO speculation. Kraken's valuation is sensitive to broader crypto market conditions, regulatory developments in the United States and Europe, and competitive dynamics among centralised exchanges. In 2023, Kraken acquired NinjaTrader, a futures trading platform, signalling an expansion beyond spot crypto trading. The company has faced regulatory scrutiny from the US Securities and Exchange Commission and Commodity Futures Trading Commission, adding material uncertainty to any public listing timeline. Private market valuations of crypto-native firms have fluctuated sharply in recent years, making the NPM Price a live indicator of institutional sentiment towards the business.

Key factors

Kraken's NPM valuation between now and 31 December 2026 will be shaped by several intersecting forces. The trajectory of major cryptocurrency prices, particularly Bitcoin and Ethereum, directly affects exchange trading volumes and fee revenues, which underpin private market valuations. Regulatory outcomes in the United States — including the resolution of any outstanding enforcement actions and the shape of forthcoming digital asset legislation — could materially alter the company's risk profile and attractiveness to institutional investors. A decision to pursue an IPO or direct listing would introduce public market capitalisation data into the resolution methodology, potentially creating step-change movements in implied valuation. Secondary market liquidity on platforms such as Nasdaq Private Market is itself affected by investor appetite for pre-IPO tech and crypto assets, which tracks broader risk sentiment. Competitive pressures from Coinbase, Binance, and emerging decentralised exchanges influence Kraken's market share and revenue outlook. Any material acquisition, merger, or corporate restructuring prior to the deadline would affect which valuation data counts under the resolution criteria. Publication continuity by NPM is also a dependency, since cessation of coverage triggers a specific fallback mechanism.

FAQ

How is the Kraken valuation market resolved?

Each outcome resolves Yes if Kraken's NPM Price, as published by Nasdaq Private Market, reaches or exceeds the stated threshold on any trading day between market creation and 31 December 2026. If Kraken completes an IPO or direct listing, official exchange market capitalisation data also counts. Revisions to previously published NPM data are disregarded unless they correct clearly erroneous figures.

When does the Kraken valuation market resolve?

The primary resolution deadline is 31 December 2026. If NPM has not published data for all business dates by 1:00 PM ET on 1 January 2027, the market may remain open until 11:59 PM ET on 4 January 2027, at which point it resolves on whatever data is available.

What happens if Kraken goes public before the deadline?

If Kraken completes an IPO or direct listing before 31 December 2026, the resolution methodology expands to include the valuation implied by the official listing price and the company's public market capitalisation on each trading day through to the deadline. The highest trading price multiplied by total outstanding shares is used to determine market cap.

What does the Kraken valuation market currently show?

Trading is broadly distributed across nine thresholds. The lower and mid-range valuation bands are the most heavily backed, with the $12.5 billion threshold attracting the strongest support. Backing decreases progressively at higher thresholds, and the uppermost bands — $22.5 billion and $25 billion — show notably thin volume.
