JD Vance diplomatic meeting with Iran by...?
What you need to know
This market asks whether JD Vance will sit down in person with Iranian officials — as America's representative — for a real diplomatic negotiation before the end of June 2026. A Yes means Vance physically attended a formal meeting with Iranian counterparts to discuss US-Iran relations. A No means that never happened, whether because talks broke down, were handled by someone else, stayed at the phone-call level, or simply didn't advance that far. For this to settle Yes, JD Vance must be in the same room as Iranian officials, actively negotiating on behalf of the United States — not just observing or exchanging pleasantries. The meeting must be publicly confirmed by at least one government or widely reported by credible news outlets. Indirect talks through a third-party mediator can still count, as long as Vance is physically present. A phone call, video call, or chance encounter at a summit does not count, even if substantive topics are discussed. Recent headlines suggest US-Iran diplomacy is unusually active right now. Pakistan's prime minister has reportedly claimed a final deal text has been reached, and Iran says a formal agreement is close. There are also reports that Vance denied accusations of offering Iran cash as part of a deal. These headlines suggest high-level negotiations are underway — but whether Vance himself has been or will be physically present at any meeting, which is what this market specifically requires, is not clearly confirmed by the provided reports. The core difficulty is that diplomacy at this level is fluid and often opaque. Talks can be progressing on paper while the specific question of who sits in the room remains undecided — senior envoys, not the Vice President, typically handle direct negotiations. Even if a deal is reached, Vance personally attending as a physical participant is a distinct and higher bar. The deadline is June 30, 2026, which is very close. The market prices this at about 31%, reflecting genuine uncertainty about whether that specific condition gets met in time.

How this resolves
Resolves June 30, 2026
This market will resolve to "Yes" if there is a diplomatic meeting between JD Vance as representative of the United States and Iran by the listed date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. To qualify, JD Vance must be physically present at the meeting and actively participate as a negotiator representing the United States. A diplomatic meeting refers to a deliberate meeting between representatives of the listed countries who are acting in an official capacity and are authorized to engage in negotiation or diplomacy regarding US-Iranian relations on behalf of their governments. Meetings conducted indirectly, for example, through designated mediators, facilitators, or interlocutors acting with the knowledge and authorization of the relevant governments, will qualify. Brief greetings, chance encounters, or talks otherwise not deliberately aimed at diplomacy or negotiation will not count. The meeting must be in-person and must be publicly acknowledged by either government or reported by a consensus of credible media. Remote meetings, phone calls, or other meetings where the relevant parties are not present will not count. The resolution sources for this market will be official information from the governments of the United States and Iran, and a consensus of credible reporting.
