NBA Finals: Number of Buzzer Beaters

100%sportsUpdated 5 min ago

What you need to know

This market is asking how many buzzer beaters happen across all games of the 2026 NBA Finals. A buzzer beater here means a shot that goes in at the exact moment time runs out on a quarter or overtime period — the clock hits zero as the ball is in the air and goes through the net. There are separate Yes/No questions for reaching 1, 2, or 6 total buzzer beaters across the whole series. Right now, the market treats 1+ as a near-certainty, while 2+ and 6+ are seen as essentially impossible. Each threshold resolves Yes if the total number of qualifying buzzer beaters in the 2026 Finals meets or exceeds that number, and No if it falls short. Only made field goals at the exact expiration of a period count — a shot that beats the shot clock but not the period clock does not qualify. The NBA's official stats are the source. If the Finals are cancelled or pushed past July 3, 2026, everything resolves No regardless of what happened. Shortened series still count, using only the completed games. There is no recent news available that relates directly to this market. Since the 2026 NBA Finals haven't started yet, the most relevant thing to watch for later would be game scores, overtime periods (which add more chances for buzzer beaters), and any news about whether the series goes to six or seven games — more games simply means more opportunities. The main honest uncertainty at '1+' priced at 100% is simply whether something extremely unlikely happens — like a Finals where not a single period ends with a made shot at the buzzer. That is historically rare, so the market treats it as nearly guaranteed. For '2+' and '6+' sitting at 0%, the crowd is saying two or more is unlikely enough to dismiss, and six is nearly unthinkable. The real unpredictability is that buzzer beaters are random, dramatic moments — no one can schedule them.

How this resolves

Resolves June 20, 2026

This market will resolve to “Yes” if the total number of buzzer beater shots scored to end any regulation or overtime period during the 2026 NBA Finals equals or exceeds the listed number. Otherwise, the market will resolve to “No” If no buzzer beater is scored during the 2026 NBA Finals, the market will resolve to “No” A ‘buzzer beater’ is a made field goal that is scored at the expiration (leaving zero seconds on game clock) of any period during the 2026 NBA Finals. Shots made at the end of the shot clock are not considered buzzer beaters. If the series concludes early, is shortened, or is truncated for any reason, the outcome shall be determined using available NBA statistics for completed games. If the 2026 NBA Finals is cancelled, postponed after July 3, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or if the exact number of “buzzer beaters” cannot be determined within that timeframe, this market will resolve to "No”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the NBA and its official broadcast partners; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
