World Cup: Player to be in Spain's Starting 11

98%sportsUpdated 5 min ago

What you need to know

This market asks whether a specific Spanish player will literally be on the pitch when the referee blows the whistle to start Spain's very first game at the 2026 World Cup. A 'Yes' means that player is in the starting eleven at kick-off — not just named in the squad, not just warming up, but actually playing from minute one. A 'No' means they didn't start, whether due to injury, a coaching decision, or anything else. The market settles 'Yes' only if the player is physically on the field at kick-off of Spain's first group stage match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. There is one important edge case: if a player is named in the starting lineup but has to withdraw before the game begins — say, due to a last-minute injury — that still counts as 'No'. Only players who are actually on the pitch when the game starts count. FIFA's official records are the primary source. None of the provided news headlines relate to this market. There is no relevant recent news to point to here. The things worth watching for would be injury updates to these players in the weeks leading up to Spain's opening match, and any lineup hints from Spain's coach. The market prices all three players at 95% or higher, which means the main uncertainty is simply whether something unexpected happens — an injury, a sudden form crisis, or a surprise tactical decision by the coach. These are low-probability but real risks over a tournament that hasn't started yet. Rodri notably missed much of the 2024–25 club season with a serious knee injury, so his fitness is a slightly larger question mark than the others, which may be why his odds sit just a touch lower.

How this resolves

This market will resolve to "Yes" if the listed player takes the field as a member of Spain's official starting lineup for the first group stage game the nation plays at 2026 FIFA World Cup. Otherwise, the corresponding market will resolve to "No". If a player is officially announced as part of the starting lineup but is replaced before the game begins for any reason, the corresponding market will resolve to "No". Only players that are on the pitch at kick off will be counted toward a "Yes" resolution. If the 2026 FIFA World Cup is cancelled, postponed after June 29, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or the listed player cannot be confirmed as a part of Spain's official 1st match starting lineup for the 2026 FIFA World Cup within that timeframe, the corresponding market will resolve to "No". The primary resolution source for this market will be information from FIFA (https://www.fifa.com/), however a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
