World Cup: Young Player Award Winner

44%sportsUpdated just now

What you need to know

This market asks which young player will be named the best under-21 player at the 2026 FIFA World Cup — the tournament's official award for standout youth talent. A win for Lamine Yamal means the Spanish teenage winger takes the prize; a win for Désiré Doué means the French youngster does; Pau Cubarsí would mean Spain's young defender claimed it. If someone not listed here wins, those holding 'Other' collect. The market settles on whoever FIFA officially names as the Young Player Award winner at the 2026 World Cup, which runs through July 20, 2026. FIFA announces this award at the end of the tournament. One unusual edge case: if somehow two players were declared winners, the market goes to whichever name comes first alphabetically by last name. If the tournament is cancelled or has no declared winner by August 2, 2026, everything resolves as 'Other' — so a completed tournament with a named winner is the normal path. None of the provided news headlines relate to the 2026 World Cup or these players. The kind of news that would actually matter here includes player performances in knockout-round matches, injury updates, and any early award speculation from sports journalists covering the tournament as it plays out. The biggest challenge is that this award rewards tournament performance, not reputation — a player can arrive as a favorite and then get knocked out early or have a quiet tournament, while someone unexpected shines. Yamal leads at 44%, but that still leaves a 56% chance the market sees someone else win. All three listed players are young Europeans whose form can vary match to match, and a single injury or breakout game can shift everything quickly.

This market will resolve to the player who wins the Young Player Award for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In the event of a tie, this market will resolve according to the official winner as determined by FIFA rules. If the 2026 FIFA World Cup is cancelled, postponed after August 2, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or there is otherwise no winner declared within that timeframe, this market will resolve to “Other”. The resolution source for this market will be official information from FIFA; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
