Understand this market

This market asks whether two specific League of Legends esports teams — Gen.G and T1, both from South Korea — will earn a spot at MSI 2026, the Mid-Season Invitational, which is one of the biggest international LoL tournaments of the year. Each team has its own separate Yes/No question. A 'Yes' means that team officially makes it into the MSI 2026 participant list. A 'No' means they don't qualify — either they fall short in regional competition, or the event itself doesn't happen.

Resolution Criteria

The MSI 2026 (Mid-Season Invitational) is scheduled to take place from June 26 to July 12, 2026. This market will resolve according to which teams qualify for MSI 2026. If the listed team officially qualifies as one of the teams invited to MSI 2026, the market will resolve to "Yes." Otherwise, it will resolve to "No." Ties in standings will be broken according to the official LoL Esports rules. If MSI 2026 is canceled, postponed indefinitely, or if the official list of MSI 2026 participants is not published before August 1, 2026, ET, this market will resolve to "No." The primary resolution source will be official information from the LoL Esports website (https://lolesports.com). However, a consensus of credible reporting (e.g., Liquipedia at https://liquipedia.net/leagueoflegends/Mid-Season_Invitational/2026) may also be used.

Market structure

The market spans 12 named team outcomes, each resolving independently to Yes or No based on official qualification. Volume is uneven: two teams sit at heavily concentrated backing, several cluster in a competitive mid-range, and a handful trail with limited support. Resolution relies on the official LoL Esports participant list. If MSI 2026 is cancelled or postponed indefinitely, or if the participant list is not published before 1 August 2026, all outcomes resolve No.

Background

The Mid-Season Invitational is Riot Games' annual mid-year international League of Legends tournament, bringing together regional champions and high-placing sides from across the world's major leagues. Qualification pathways vary by region: European, Korean, Chinese, and Latin American leagues each send representatives based on their spring split results, with slot counts and tiebreaker rules governed by official LoL Esports regulations. MSI serves as a key indicator of regional strength heading into the World Championship later in the year, making qualification meaningful both competitively and commercially. The 2026 edition is scheduled for late June through mid-July, compressing the qualification window into the spring split season conclusions across all participating regions.

Key factors

Regional spring split outcomes are the primary driver: a team's standing at the end of their domestic season determines whether they qualify and in what seeding position. Tiebreaker procedures, which follow official LoL Esports rules, become relevant when teams finish level on points — a scenario that has historically altered qualification outcomes in multiple regions. Roster changes, player eligibility, and mid-split organisational decisions can affect team performance and therefore standings. Riot Games retains authority over invitations and slot allocations, meaning regulatory decisions about regional slot counts could influence which teams are eligible. The cancellation or indefinite postponement clause means any significant disruption to the tournament itself, or a failure to publish the participant list by 1 August 2026, would result in all outcomes resolving No regardless of sporting results.

FAQ

How is the MSI 2026 qualification market resolved?

Each team outcome resolves Yes if that team is officially listed as a participant in MSI 2026 on the LoL Esports website. If a team does not appear on the official participant list, that outcome resolves No. Ties in regional standings are broken per official LoL Esports rules.

When does the MSI 2026 qualification market resolve?

The resolution deadline is 12 July 2026, aligned with the tournament's scheduled end date. If the official participant list is not published by 1 August 2026 ET, all outcomes resolve No regardless of whether the tournament subsequently takes place.

What happens if MSI 2026 is cancelled or postponed?

If MSI 2026 is cancelled, postponed indefinitely, or if Riot Games does not publish the official participant list before 1 August 2026 ET, all team outcomes in this market resolve No. A standard postponement that still produces a published participant list before that deadline would not trigger this clause.

What does the MSI 2026 qualification market currently show?

Volume is heavily concentrated on G2 Esports and Bilibili Gaming as the most strongly backed qualifiers, with GenG drawing substantial support. T1, Karmine Corp, and Lyon sit in a contested mid-range, while JD Gaming, Anyone's Legend, and Movistar KOI trail with more limited backing.
