Gianni Infantino out as FIFA President by December 31?: how this market works
What you need to know
This market asks a simple question: will Gianni Infantino stop being FIFA's president at any point before the end of 2026? FIFA is the global body that runs world football, and Infantino has led it since 2016. A Yes means he leaves the role, whether by choice or by force. A No means he is still in the job when December 31, 2026 arrives. The market settles Yes the moment Infantino resigns, announces an intention to resign, or is fired, even if the departure itself happens later. The key trigger is the announcement, not the actual exit date. However, if he is only suspended or put on temporary leave, that does not count as Yes. The market uses official FIFA or Infantino statements as the main source, or a strong consensus of credible news reporting. None of the recent headlines provided relate to Infantino or FIFA in any meaningful way. There is no relevant news to point to here. The kind of development worth watching for would be: a FIFA ethics investigation, political pressure from member federations, a criminal or legal proceeding involving Infantino, or any public statement from him about his future plans. The market sits at 37% Yes, which is a meaningful chance but still below a coin toss. The main uncertainty is that leadership changes at the top of FIFA are genuinely rare and unpredictable. Infantino has survived controversies before and was reelected in 2023. At the same time, the 2026 World Cup is being hosted in North America, which puts him under heavy scrutiny. A legal development or political shift inside FIFA could change things quickly, but no one can know when or if that happens.
