Titled Tuesday Top 8: August 4: how this market works

59%sportsUpdated 1 min ago

What you need to know

This market asks whether a specific chess player will finish among the top 8 players in a single Titled Tuesday tournament held on August 4, 2026. Titled Tuesday is a weekly online blitz chess event on Chess.com, open to titled players, where hundreds of strong players compete and only a small number finish in the top 8. A 'Yes' means that player placed 8th or better in the final standings that day. A 'No' means they finished lower, did not play, or the event did not happen. The market settles based on the official final standings published by Chess.com after the August 4 tournament. If a player finishes in the top 8, their market resolves Yes. If they finish outside the top 8, do not participate, or if Chess.com does not publish final standings before August 18 at 11:59 PM ET, the market resolves No. That last point is worth noting: even a delay in publishing results, not just a cancellation, can trigger a No resolution. None of the provided news headlines relate to chess, Titled Tuesday, or any of the listed players. There is no relevant recent news to point to here. The kind of update that would matter is a player announcing they will skip the event, or any Chess.com notice about the tournament being changed or cancelled. Titled Tuesday is a fast, competitive blitz event with many strong players, so finishing top 8 is genuinely difficult even for elite players. The market prices all three players between 55% and 59%, which reflects that each has a real chance but also a real chance of missing the cut. The main sources of uncertainty are whether each player shows up, how they perform on that specific day, and how strong the rest of the field is, since blitz chess results can swing quickly based on form and a little luck.
