Houthis successfully target shipping on...?

Understand this market
This market asks whether the Houthi movement, a armed group based in Yemen, will successfully hit or board a commercial ship on one specific calendar day. A Yes means a real, physical strike lands on a cargo or tanker vessel, or Houthi fighters forcibly take control of one. A No means any attack that day is intercepted, misses completely, or only targets a military ship. Think of it less as 'are Houthis active' and more as 'does a commercial ship actually get hit on this exact date'.
To settle as Yes, credible news sources must confirm that on the specific date listed, a Houthi strike physically impacted a commercial vessel, or Houthi fighters boarded and seized one by force. Intercepted missiles and drones do not count, even if falling debris causes damage. Attacks on navy or coast guard ships also do not count. If something happens but it is unclear who did it, the market can stay open up to three extra days. If attribution is still unclear after that, it resolves No.
Recent news from late July 2026 is relevant here. Reports say four oil tankers changed course after Houthis warned ships to avoid the Red Sea, suggesting active pressure on shipping lanes. Separately, Trump publicly threatened to hold Iran accountable for Houthi attacks, and news noted oil prices rising past 100 dollars a barrel. These headlines point to ongoing Houthi activity and international tension around Red Sea shipping, though they do not confirm a qualifying strike on the specific resolution date.
The core difficulty is that this market asks about one single day, which is hard to predict even when a broader trend is clear. Houthi attacks happen irregularly, and a day with no qualifying hit resolves No even if attacks happen the day before and after. Beyond timing, interceptions matter a lot: many strikes get shot down, which counts as No under these rules. Ceasefire talks, US military pressure, and diplomatic developments could all shift Houthi behavior in ways that are hard to anticipate weeks in advance.

Resolution Criteria
This market will resolve to "Yes" if Houthi forces conduct a kinetic strike on or otherwise seize control of a commercial ship on the specified date AST (UTC+03:00). Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Attacks on military vessels will not be considered. Missile/drone strikes targeting a ship that are intercepted or otherwise do not directly impact the vessel will not be considered, regardless of damage through debris. Seize control refers to Houthi forces forcefully boarding and taking control of a commercial ship. Qualifying incidents include, but are not limited to, drone and missile strikes, aerial bombings, and kinetic actions carried out by Houthi operatives in person, such as seizing a ship by force. The primary resolution source for this market will be a consensus of credible reporting. If a kinetic incident occurs, but, on the specified date, 11:59 PM AST, material ambiguity remains as to whether the incident can be attributed to Houthi operatives, this market may remain open for an additional 3 calendar days, AST. If, at such time, attribution of the incident still cannot be confirmed, this market will resolve to “No”.
