Mitch McConnell votes in the Senate by July 31?: how this market works
What you need to know
This market asks a simple question: will Mitch McConnell, the longtime Republican senator from Kentucky, actually cast any vote on the Senate floor before the end of July 2026? It does not matter what the vote is about. Even one single vote on anything, a bill, a nomination, a procedural motion, would count as Yes. If he casts zero votes before the deadline, it resolves No. The market settles Yes the moment McConnell registers even one vote in the Senate on any measure before July 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time. The official record from the U.S. Senate is the primary source, though credible news reporting can also be used to confirm it. If no vote is recorded by the deadline, it resolves No. There are no edge cases about the type of vote: any vote counts. None of the provided recent headlines relate directly to McConnell or his Senate activity. No relevant news was given to point to. The kind of development that would matter here is any report about McConnell's health, his physical presence in Washington, or any announced intention to return to voting, so those are the updates worth watching for. The market prices this at only 10%, meaning participants strongly expect he will not vote. The honest uncertainty here is not two equal sides. McConnell has faced serious health challenges in recent years, including episodes that raised public questions about his ability to serve. The real question is simply whether something unexpected changes that picture before July ends. That kind of unexpected development is hard to anticipate, which is why a small probability still exists rather than zero.
