U.S. anti-cartel operation outside of the U.S. by...?: how this market works
What you need to know
This market asks whether U.S. government personnel will physically take part in a raid, arrest, or military strike against a drug cartel on another country's soil before July 31, 2026. Yes means boots on the ground or a direct strike, with Americans actively doing the operation. No means the U.S. stayed in a supporting role only, such as sharing intelligence, providing equipment, or sending advisors who watch from the sidelines. It resolves Yes only if U.S. personnel are confirmed to have directly participated in an operation, not just helped from a distance. The bar for confirmation is high: either the U.S. government officially admits it, or virtually every major news outlet independently reports it as fact. Rumors, leaks, or anonymous tips do not count. Advisory roles, drone surveillance, and logistical support are all explicitly excluded, even if they were essential to the operation. None of the recent headlines provided relate to this market. There is no reported news of a U.S. anti-cartel operation on foreign soil to point to. The kind of development that would matter here would be an official U.S. announcement of direct military or DEA action in Mexico or another country, or a wave of confirmed reporting from multiple major outlets describing American personnel physically present in such an operation. The market prices this at around 15%, so participants currently lean toward No, but the question is genuinely open for over a year. The core tension is between political pressure to act aggressively on cartels and the diplomatic and legal barriers to operating in a sovereign country without permission. Even if an operation happens, it may never be publicly confirmed in a way that clears the resolution bar. The high confirmation threshold makes this harder to call than just asking whether something occurred.
