Will Kraken's valuation hit __ by July 31?: how this market works

16%economyUpdated 3 min ago

What you need to know

This market asks whether Kraken, the cryptocurrency exchange, will reach a specific dollar valuation threshold before the end of July 2026. There are three separate sub-markets here, each with a different target: $9 billion, $11 billion, and $8 billion. A Yes means Kraken's estimated value hits or passes that number at least once before the deadline. A No means it stays below that level the entire time. Kraken is still a private company, so its value is estimated by a specialized data service, not a stock exchange. The market settles based on a valuation figure published daily by Nasdaq Private Market, a service that tracks prices of shares in private companies. If that number reaches or exceeds the listed threshold on any single day between now and July 31, 2026, the market resolves Yes. One important edge case: if Kraken goes public through an IPO before the deadline, its actual stock market price and share count will be used instead. If Kraken is acquired and stops being an independent company, only valuations before the deal closes will count, not the acquisition price itself. None of the provided recent news headlines relate to Kraken, its valuation, or the cryptocurrency industry. There is no relevant recent news to point to here. The kinds of developments that would matter include any news about a Kraken IPO, a major funding round, shifts in crypto market conditions, or updates to Nasdaq Private Market's published valuation figures. Private company valuations are genuinely hard to track because they depend on limited trading in private shares, not a public market with millions of buyers and sellers. The numbers can move based on crypto market swings, broader investor sentiment, or IPO rumors. The $11B threshold is priced at just 4%, reflecting how far that would be from current implied levels. The $9B threshold at 17% shows a bit more possibility but still reflects skepticism. The main uncertainty is that private valuations can shift quietly, and a single data point from one service determines the outcome.
