Will Russia enter Orikhiv by...?: how this market works
What you need to know
This market asks whether Russian forces will physically enter and hold any part of Orikhiv, a Ukrainian town in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, before September 30, 2026. Orikhiv sits close to the front line and has been under pressure for some time. A Yes means Russian troops actually occupy at least a sliver of the town. A No means Ukraine has held the entire town boundary through that date. The market settles Yes if a reliable conflict-tracking map called ISW shows any part of Orikhiv shaded as Russian-controlled or advancing, and that shading holds through at least one full daily update cycle, by September 30, 2026. The shading must reflect real physical control, not just a ceasefire announcement or a signed deal on paper. If Russia gains ground and later loses it, that still counts as Yes. ISW is the primary source; two backup sources exist if ISW goes offline. None of the provided news headlines directly relate to the situation in Orikhiv or the Zaporizhzhia front line. To watch for developments that would actually matter here, look for ISW daily updates mentioning Orikhiv specifically, any shift in front-line positions near the town, or credible reports of ceasefire negotiations that include territorial provisions in Zaporizhzhia. The market currently prices this at 84%, so participants lean heavily toward Yes, but meaningful uncertainty remains. Urban combat is slow and unpredictable. Ceasefire negotiations could freeze the front at any moment, which would count as No unless Russia physically enters the town. The deadline is September 30, 2026, giving some runway, but Ukrainian defensive efforts, Western arms supplies, and diplomatic developments could all shift the timeline in ways nobody can confidently forecast today.

Resolves September 30, 2026
This market will resolve to “Yes” if, according to the ISW map, Russia captures any territory of Orikhiv by September 30, 2026, at 11:59 PM ET. Territory will be considered captured if any part of Orikhiv is shaded under a below specified layer on the ISW map (https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/36a7f6a6f5a9448496de641cf64bd375) by the resolution date.
