Resolution Criteria
This market will resolve to "Yes" if participation by Israeli military personnel in a ground operation in Iran on or after February 28, 2026, is confirmed by the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. A "ground operation" is defined as a military operation that involves Israeli military ground forces conducting operations within Iranian territory. For the purposes of this market, aerial and maritime operations will not be considered. Only operations involving Israeli troops on the ground within the terrestrial territory of Iran will qualify. Official confirmation by the Israeli military of personnel operating on the ground within Iranian territory during the specified timeframe will resolve this market immediately. An overwhelming consensus of credible reporting confirming that the Israeli military personnel operated on the ground within Iranian territory durring the specified timeframe will also suffice. Qualifying confirmations include statements such as the June 25, 2025, statement by IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir confirmed that Israeli commando forces operated covertly on the ground inside Iran during the 12-day war. Confirmations referring only to non-military Israeli intelligence activity, including operations by the Mossad or Shin Bet, as well as airstrikes, cyberattacks, standoff weapons, remote sabotage, or actions by proxies or third parties without Israeli military presence, will not alone qualify. Incidents that would not alone suffice include the November 2025 Mossad statement indicating its agents were present during protests in Iran, or the July 31, 2024, assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, widely attributed to Mossad agents. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information by the Israeli military; however, an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting will also suffice.
Prediction markets show overwhelmingly concentrated volume on a 'No' resolution for an Israeli ground operation in Iran confirmed by 31 May 2026, with the 'Yes by May 31' outcome among the heaviest-backed affirmative positions carrying only marginal support. The market distinguishes strictly between aerial, maritime, and intelligence operations — which do not qualify — and confirmed Israeli military ground forces physically operating within Iranian territory. Resolution requires either an official IDF statement or an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting.
Market structure
The market offers three outcomes tied to whether and when an Israeli ground operation in Iran is confirmed, with a hard resolution deadline of 31 May 2026 at 11:59 PM ET. Volume is heavily concentrated against a Yes resolution materialising by that date. Confirmation requires official Israeli military acknowledgement or an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting. Intelligence-only activity, airstrikes, cyberattacks, and proxy actions explicitly do not qualify.
Background
The resolution criteria draw directly on a precedent set during the June 2025 twelve-day conflict between Israel and Iran, when IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir confirmed that Israeli commando forces had operated covertly on Iranian soil. That disclosure — itself retrospective — established the evidentiary bar for this market. Prior events, including the 2024 assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and a November 2025 Mossad statement about agent presence during Iranian protests, were explicitly excluded as qualifying confirmations because they involved intelligence personnel rather than uniformed military ground forces. The market therefore sits at the intersection of two distinct questions: whether such an operation would occur, and whether it would be confirmed within the specified window.
Key factors
Several structural factors bear on resolution. First, Israeli military doctrine has historically favoured deniability in operations on Iranian soil, meaning ground activity could occur without official confirmation within the deadline. Second, the geopolitical trajectory of Israeli-Iranian tensions — including any renewed hostilities following the June 2025 conflict — will determine whether a ground operation is mounted at all. Third, the confirmation threshold is binary in character: a single authoritative IDF statement suffices, as does a convergence of credible reporting, but partial or ambiguous reporting does not. Fourth, the timeframe from 28 February 2026 to 31 May 2026 is approximately three months, constraining the window in which both an operation and its confirmation must occur. Fifth, diplomatic developments — including any ceasefire arrangements, backchannel negotiations, or third-party mediation involving Iran — could materially affect the operational environment during this window.
FAQ
How is the 'Israel ground operation in Iran' market resolved?
The market resolves Yes if Israeli military ground forces are confirmed to have operated within Iranian territory on or after 28 February 2026, either by an official IDF statement or an overwhelming consensus of credible reporting. Intelligence-only activity, airstrikes, cyberattacks, and proxy actions do not qualify.
When does the Israel ground operation in Iran market resolve?
The market resolves at 11:59 PM ET on 31 May 2026. If qualifying confirmation of a ground operation is received before that deadline, the market resolves Yes immediately. Absent such confirmation by the deadline, it resolves No.
Do Mossad operations or Israeli airstrikes count as a ground operation for this market?
No. Intelligence operations by Mossad or Shin Bet, aerial strikes, cyberattacks, maritime actions, standoff weapons, and proxy activities explicitly do not qualify. Only confirmed Israeli military ground forces physically present within Iranian territory count toward resolution.
What does the market currently show?
Volume is overwhelmingly concentrated on a No outcome. The affirmative outcome — confirmation by 31 May 2026 — attracts only marginal backing, reflecting the narrow window, the confirmation requirements, and the historical rarity of acknowledged Israeli ground operations inside Iran.
