Resolution Criteria

This market will resolve to "Yes" if Metamask officially launches a token by December 31, 2025, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". The token must be actively and publicly transferable and tradable. Announcements alone do not qualify The primary resolution source for this market will be information from Metamask, however a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.

Prediction markets tracking whether MetaMask will launch a token show volume most heavily concentrated on a December 2026 resolution, with earlier dates such as June and September 2026 drawing considerably less backing. The market requires the token to be actively and publicly transferable and tradable — announcements alone do not qualify. Resolution is based primarily on official MetaMask communications, supplemented by a consensus of credible reporting.

Market structure

The market spans four outcome windows — June 30, September 30, December 31 2026, and an implied 'No by deadline' outcome. Volume is broadly distributed across the later dates, with December 2026 the heaviest-backed single outcome. A 'Yes' resolution requires the token to be live and tradable, not merely announced. The primary resolution source is MetaMask itself, with credible press coverage used to confirm. The market's outer deadline is 1 January 2027.

Background

MetaMask, developed by Consensys, is one of the most widely used Ethereum-compatible wallet applications, with tens of millions of reported users. Speculation about a native MASK or MetaMask token has circulated within the crypto community for several years, partly because many comparable Web3 infrastructure projects have issued governance or utility tokens. Consensys has neither confirmed nor ruled out a token launch in recent public statements, though the subject resurfaces regularly in community forums and industry coverage. A token launch would likely attract significant attention given MetaMask's user base and its potential for a retroactive airdrop to historical wallet users — a model popularised by protocols such as Uniswap and Arbitrum.

Key factors

Several structural factors bear on whether a MetaMask token launches within the market's timeframe. Consensys's broader financial position and any regulatory clarity around token classifications in the United States could influence the timing and structure of any launch. The legal and compliance environment for token issuances has shifted materially since 2022, and any token would need to navigate securities-law considerations. Technical readiness — including smart contract audits, tokenomics design, and governance framework — adds further lead time. Competitive pressure from rival wallet products that have issued tokens may accelerate internal deliberations. Conversely, Consensys leadership may prioritise other product lines or delay issuance pending regulatory certainty. Any announcement short of a live, tradable token does not satisfy resolution criteria, meaning the gap between announcement and tradability creates an additional timing variable. Market volume clustering around December 2026 suggests traders weight a near-term launch as less probable than one later in the year.

FAQ

How is the MetaMask token launch market resolved?

The market resolves 'Yes' for the relevant date window if MetaMask's token is actively and publicly transferable and tradable by that date. Announcements, teasers, or whitepapers do not qualify. The primary resolution source is official MetaMask communications, with credible reporting used to confirm.

When does the MetaMask token prediction market resolve?

The market's outer deadline is 1 January 2027 (5:00 AM UTC), corresponding to 31 December 2026 at 11:59 PM ET. Earlier outcome windows close on 30 June and 30 September 2026 respectively. If no qualifying launch occurs by the final deadline, the market resolves 'No'.

What happens if MetaMask announces a token but it is not yet tradable by the deadline?

An announcement alone does not trigger resolution. The token must be actively and publicly transferable and tradable. If a launch is announced but trading has not commenced by the relevant deadline, that window resolves 'No', and later windows remain open if applicable.

What does the MetaMask token market currently show?

The December 2026 outcome is the heaviest-backed, attracting substantially more volume than the June or September windows. The June 30 outcome has minimal backing, suggesting traders consider a very near-term launch significantly less probable than one later in the year.
