WSOP: Player of the Year Winner: how this market works

40%esportsUpdated 3 min ago

What you need to know

This market is asking: who will win the 2026 World Series of Poker Player of the Year award? The WSOP POY is a season-long competition where professional poker players earn points by finishing well in qualifying tournaments throughout the year. The player with the most points at the end of the season wins. A Yes on William Foxen means he finishes atop that leaderboard. The same logic applies to Shaun Deeb, Naoya Kihara, or the catch-all 'Other' option for any player not individually listed. The market settles to whichever player holds the top spot on the official WSOP 2026 POY leaderboard once all qualifying events are complete. The source of truth is the official WSOP website. One important edge case: if the race is cancelled, or if a final leaderboard is not published by January 14, 2027, the market resolves to 'Other', regardless of who was leading. Ties are broken by the official WSOP tiebreaker procedure, and only if that still produces a tie does alphabetical order apply. None of the provided news headlines relate to poker, the WSOP, or any of the players listed in this market. There is no relevant recent news to point to here. The kind of developments worth watching would be tournament results posted on the WSOP POY leaderboard, any major cash finishes by the named players, or news about remaining qualifying events on the 2026 schedule. The biggest challenge is that this is a season-long race with many tournaments still to play. A player who leads today can be overtaken by a competitor who runs hot in a single big event. The market currently prices Foxen as the frontrunner at around 49%, but nearly half the implied probability sits with Deeb, Kihara, and unlisted players combined. Tournament poker also has a large luck element in any single event, making late-season swings genuinely hard to forecast even for experts closely following the standings.

How this resolves

This market will resolve to the player who finishes in 1st place on the official 2026 World Series of Poker Player of the Year (POY) leaderboard at the conclusion of all POY-qualifying events.
