Israel agrees to Board of Peace Gaza plan by August 7?: how this market works
What you need to know
This market asks whether Israel will officially say 'yes' to a specific peace roadmap for Gaza before August 7, 2026. The roadmap, announced July 30, 2026 by a group called the Board of Peace, lays out a step-by-step process for Hamas disarmament and Israeli military withdrawal from Gaza. A Yes means Israel formally accepts that plan. A No means Israel stays silent, rejects it, or gives only a vague or partial response before the deadline. The market settles Yes only if an official Israeli government representative makes a clear, public, formal statement accepting this roadmap by 11:59 PM ET on August 7, 2026. The bar is deliberately high: the statement must be unambiguous and through official channels. Leaks, rumors, third-party claims, and conditional or 'we might accept' language do not count. Importantly, if Israel accepts and later reverses course, the market still resolves Yes, because only the announcement matters, not whether the plan is actually followed through. The most relevant headline is that Israel has stated it has 'serious concerns' with a Hamas disarmament deal, which is directly connected to this roadmap. That signals resistance rather than acceptance. A separate report notes the U.S. and Israel paused strikes on Iran in connection with a peace deal, suggesting active diplomacy is underway. Taken together, the news picture shows negotiations in motion but Israel publicly expressing reservations, which is why the market currently prices a Yes at only around 14%. The core difficulty is that this is active, fast-moving diplomacy with a very short window, and governments often shift positions quickly under pressure. Israel's public statement of 'serious concerns' pulls against a Yes, but diplomatic language can change fast, especially with U.S. pressure involved. The criteria also require a very specific kind of announcement, so even if Israel moves toward acceptance, an ambiguous or informal statement might not qualify. The 14% odds suggest the market sees acceptance as unlikely but not impossible before the August 7 deadline.
