Trump out as President by August 31?: how this market works
What you need to know
This market asks one simple question: will Donald Trump stop being president before September 2026, for any permanent reason? A Yes means he leaves office early, whether by resigning, dying, or being formally removed. A No means he is still president on August 31, 2026. It is not asking whether he finishes his full term, just whether he is still in office by that specific date. The market settles Yes if Trump permanently leaves office by August 31, 2026, at 11:59 PM ET. The key word is permanently. A temporary health handover to the Vice President does not count. Impeachment by the House alone does not count either, because that is not removal. Only a full Senate conviction, a resignation, death, or a rare two-thirds congressional vote confirming he is unable to serve would trigger a Yes. Credible news reporting is the deciding source. The recent headlines show Trump actively governing and pushing new legislative and business initiatives as of August 2026, including a proposed anti-weaponization bill and a new Truth Social feature. None of the provided news suggests any resignation, health crisis, or removal process. The headlines point to normal, ongoing presidential activity rather than anything that would threaten his hold on office. At 1%, the market is about as close to certain as prediction markets get, so the honest answer is that there is very little genuine uncertainty here. The real question is just whether something completely unexpected happens in the remaining weeks before the deadline. Historically, no sitting U.S. president has ever been removed by Congress. The main things to watch for would be a sudden health event or a dramatic political crisis, both of which are unpredictable by nature but considered very unlikely by the market right now.
