Next Italian National Team Head Coach: how this market works
What you need to know
This market is asking: who will be the next full-time head coach of Italy's men's national soccer team? A 'Yes' for any named candidate means that person gets the permanent job. The key word is permanent. Italy has had coaching instability in recent years, and this market is specifically about who takes the role on a lasting, official basis, not someone brought in temporarily to fill a gap while the federation searches. The market settles the moment the Italian Football Federation officially appoints a permanent head coach, or credible reporting widely confirms such an appointment. That can happen any time before December 31, 2026. If no permanent appointment is made by that deadline, the market resolves to 'Other,' meaning none of the named candidates won. Interim or caretaker arrangements do not count, no matter how long they last. None of the provided news headlines relate to Italian soccer or this coaching search. There is no relevant recent news to point to here. The kind of news worth watching for would be any official statement from the Italian Football Federation, a resignation or contract announcement from a candidate's current club, or credible reports that negotiations with a specific coach have begun. The market is genuinely wide open. The top two candidates, Pirlo and Guardiola, are priced almost equally at around 22-23%, and together they still represent less than half the market, meaning the field is very fragmented. Guardiola is an unusual name here since he has no prior connection to Italy's national setup. Coaching searches can move fast or stall for months. The federation's internal politics, candidate availability, and Italy's competitive results before any appointment all add unpredictability.
